Removing Front Three-Point Belt

WARNING: Incorrect handling of seat-belt pretensioner unit
  • Triggering of seat-belt pretensioner unit

→ Observe safety regulations for handling seat-belt pretensioner units.

→ Observe disposal regulations for seat-belt pretensioner units.

→ After disconnecting the battery, wait 1 minute before disconnecting the seat-belt pretensioner unit.

→ Remove ignition key and disconnect the battery. Route or insulate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided. → WM 9000IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY (ALL MODELS)

→ If removed for an extended period, the seat-belt pretensioner unit must be stored in a safe place.

→ Transport the seat-belt pretensioner unit in such a way that the seat belt can retract safely if it is actuated.

  1. Remove inner door sill trim. → Removing Inner Door Sill Trim
  2. Pull out seat belt cap at front -A-  and remove towards the front -B-  .

  3. Release retaining clip -arrow A-  on the seat belt mount using a suitable screwdriver.

  4. Push the seat belt mount over the retaining pin -arrow B-  until the lug under the retaining pin loosens the clip.

  5. Remove belt end fitting from the retaining pin -arrow A-  and pull seat belt out through the belt guide -arrow B-  .

  6. Remove the fastening screw -1-  of the top belt lug.

  7. Twist the top belt lug -arrow A-  and push downwards behind the holder -arrow B-  .

  8. Pull out seat-belt buckle -C-  with seat belt mount -D-  in a downward direction.

  9. Release -arrow A-  and remove -arrow B-  socket from the clip.

  10. Press down the protective cover on the plug -arrow A-  and maintain in this position.

  11. Release connector -arrow B-  and pull it off -arrow C-  .

  12. Unscrew fastening screw -2-  on the belt reel. Lift belt reel -arrow A-  , disengage towards the back -arrow B-  and remove upwards -arrow C-  .
