Fault code 2577: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • When troubleshooting, the status of the fault must be observed!
  • "Open circuit" fault type is not monitored due to possibility of component fault.
  • A short circuit to B+ can also be a short circuit to supply leads of other loads. The leads must be supplied with power for test purposes.
DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE

  • Unplug (remove) retrofitted electrical brakes control unit for trailer
  • Erase fault memory.
Fault no longer occurs.
Fault is in control unit for electrical brakes.
Repair/replace.
→ End
Fault occurs again.
Go to Step 2
2 Check fault memory in the trailer hitch control module for [F8] fault 'Short circuit to ground' Electrical brakes do not function
Go to Step 3
'Short circuit to B+' Electrical brakes brake constantly
Go to Step 4
3 Check for short circuit to ground in wiring in vehicle between trailer hitch control module and retrofit electrical brakes control unit plug for trailer
  • Ignition off.
  • Pull off plug A on trailer hitch control module.
  • Check resistance between pin 3 of retrofit electrical brakes control unit plug for trailer and ground.

Go to Step 5
Repair wiring or replace wiring harness.

4 Check for short circuit to B+ in wiring in vehicle between trailer hitch control module and electrical brakes control unit plug for trailer (see note)
  • Push plug A on to trailer hitch control module.
  • Switch on ignition.
  • Check voltage between pin 3 of electrical brakes control unit plug for trailer and ground (brakes not applied).
< 0.3 V
Go to Step 5
Repair wiring or replace wiring harness.
