Fault code 0183: Diagnosis/troubleshooting: Notes

NOTE: Visual inspection: In the next troubleshooting section, please check first that the affected pins on the KESSY control module plug connection are neither damaged nor corroded. The wiring and plugs of the affected components must also be checked for external damage and correct contacts. Repair damaged or corroded pins if possible, otherwise replace affected pins. Repair or replace damaged wires.
NOTE: The resistance values specified below are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C.
NOTE: Conventional diagnosis/troubleshooting cannot be performed for the fault type 'short circuit to B+', which is displayed using the 'F8' key in the 9588 Porsche System Tester II. The reason for this is that the ignition cannot be switched on when there is no control module connected. As a result, it is not possible to differentiate uniquely between a short circuit to terminal 30 and a short circuit to terminal 15. A thorough visual inspection of components and wiring must therefore be carried out before replacing a control module.

This diagnosis/troubleshooting relates to all fault types for which a 'short circuit to B+' is detected:

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check wiring harness for short circuit to terminal 30
  • Switch off ignition
  • Pull off plug A on control module
  • Measure voltage between control module plug A, pin 25, pin 26, pin 27, pin 28 and ground
Voltage is 0 V
Go to step 2
Repair line
→ End
2 Carry out visual inspection of wiring harness
  • See note on 'Short circuit to B+'
  • Switch off ignition
  • Check wiring harness from control module plug A, pin 25, pin 26, pin 27, pin 28 to interior antennas for damage, abrasion or crushing, and repair if possible, or replace
Wiring harness OK
Go to step 3
Repair wiring harness from control module to both interior antennas
→ End
3 Replace control module → End

This diagnosis/troubleshooting relates to all other fault types:
