Control module replacement - PCM2

The PCM2 is provided in active production mode in new vehicles and as a spare part. Each time the vehicle is started, the stored VIN is compared with that in the instrument cluster. Provided no match is found, the device switches off after 30 seconds and the PROTECTED message appears in the display. The device is not operational.

If a match is found, the device is operational. No further checks are made while the device is connected to the vehicle electrical system.
