CONCERN

Convertible top control unit malfunctioning (from MY 2000 onward only).

INFORMATION

In some instances, the convertible top control unit has been found to cause the following problems:

The convertible top does not open or close.
The convertible top operation aborts.

As of December 23, 1999, a modified convertible top control unit is being installed in production. The modified top control unit can be identified by a black paint dot located on the blue base plate. In cases of complaints, first check the relay to see if it has the paint dot on the base plate, then proceed with the diagnostic checks.

NOTE: The part number for the control unit has not changed. Only install relays with the black paint dot.
