Engine Identification

Engine code and identification number is stamped on front end of a reinforcing rib, in top half of crankcase. Identification number consists of the first 8 characters of engine serial number range.

The first character is engine design (8 = 8-cylinder engine), second character is engine type (1 = 928S/5.0L USA) and third character is model year (H = 1987). The next 5 characters are the rest of engine serial number. Serial numbers 00001 - 05000 have automatic transaxles and 05001 - 10000 have manual transaxles.
