Engine Oiling System: Notes
Engine utilizes a wet sump type full pressure system with an oil cooler, integrated as a heat exchanger, in the radiator. Oil pump (sickle-type) is located in separate cast iron housing bolted to engine (left front) and driven by camshaft timing belt. An "O" ring is used to seal between housing and crankcase.
Full pressure system pumps oil to pressure relief valve, thermostat, main oil passage, filter, crankcase upper section, cylinder heads and camshaft housings. See Fig 1. Main oil passages are cast into mating surface of crankcase lower section.
