Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the theft deterrent key transponder amplifier.
- No key in ignition cylinder, test for less than 1V between the 5 volt reference circuit terminal 14 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5 volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the theft deterrent key transponder
- Key in ignition cylinder, test for 4.6-5.4V between the 5 volt reference circuit terminal 14 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5 volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the theft deterrent key transponder.
- If less than the specified range, test the 5 volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the theft deterrent key transponder.
- Key in ignition cylinder, test for 4.6-5.4V between the 5 volt reference circuit terminal 14 and the low reference circuit terminal 5. If the circuit tests normal, replace the theft deterrent key transponder.
- If not within the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the theft deterrent key transponder amplifier.
