Procedure C - Registration of the Engine Control Module (ECM) Communication ID
When the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the ECU communication ID must be registered to the new ECM. Engine starting will be disabled if the ECU communication IDs do not match.
NOTE:
After the ECU communication ID has been registered, the vehicle may not start on the next attempt. Cycle the ignition and try a second time.
- Ignition ON with a valid master key for 5 seconds.
- Ignition OFF, install a 3 A fused jumper wire between terminal 4 and terminal 14 at the DLC.
- Ignition ON for 30 minutes, set up the scan tool for SPS programming in a pass-thru arrangement. Select J-2532 Tech2 on the SPS terminal.
- On the SPS terminal, choose the Vehicle Immobilizer Key Learn selection and follow the on-screen instructions. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
- Cycle the ignition OFF and ON after programming has complete, then start the vehicle.
