Removal Procedure

  1. Discharge the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. WARNING: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning
  3. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  4. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .

  6. Disconnect the ventilation hose (1).
  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly with hose.

  9. Remove the engine wire.
  10. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the ground wire (3, 4).
  11. Disconnect the 4 fuel injector assembly connectors (1, 2, 5, 6).
  12. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps (7, 8).

  14. Disconnect the 4 wire harness clamps (1, 2, 3, 4).

  16. Remove the 2 bolts (1, 2) and 2 wire harness brackets.

  18. Remove the fuel pipe clamp (1).

  20. Remove the fuel pipe clamp (2).

  22. Using the J-43178:  disconnect tool, disconnect the fuel tube (1).

  24. Remove the fuel delivery pipe.
  25. Remove the bolt (1) and remove the wire harness bracket.

  27. Remove the 2 bolts (1, 2).

  29. Remove the bolt (1) and the fuel delivery pipe.

  31. Remove the 2 delivery pipe spacers.

  33. Pull the 4 fuel injector assemblies out of the fuel delivery pipe.

    NOTE: Prevent entry of foreign objects by covering the fuel injector with a plastic bag.
  35. For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

  37. Remove the 4 injector vibration insulators (1, 2, 3, 4).
