Circuit/System Testing

  1. Using a scan tool, monitor that the brake lamp switch status changes as the brake pedal is applied and released.
    • If brake lamp switch status changes as specified, replace the BPMV.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the EBCM connector.
  3. Ignition ON, check for 8-14V between EBCM connector terminal 2 and ground with brake pedal applied and less than 1.5V with braked pedal released.
    • If the voltage is not as specified, test the circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BPMV/EBCM.
