Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent and 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the video display.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the video display ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Test for less than 10 ohms between the video signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the voltage supply circuit terminal 7 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the voltage supply circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  5. Radio ON, test for B+ between the enable circuit terminal 8 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the enable circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
  6. Radio ON, DVD playing in radio, test for 1-8 volts between the video bright control circuit terminal 9 and ground.
    • If less then specified range, test the circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
    • If greater then specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
  7. Test for 0.1-3.0 volts between the video mode signal circuit terminal 10 and ground.
    • If less then specified range, test the circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
    • If greater then specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
  8. Test for 1-3 volts between the video signal circuit terminal 1 and ground. The voltage will fluctuate in this range while the DVD is playing.
    • If less then specified range, test the circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
    • If greater then specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the radio.
  9. If all circuits test normal, replace the video display.
