Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the steering wheel position sensor.
  2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 24 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  3. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the following circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • 5-volt reference circuit terminal 25
    • Low reference circuit terminal 24
    • Signal A circuit terminal 39
    • Signal B circuit terminal 10
    • If greater than the specified range, test the appropriate circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  4. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the following circuits terminals listed below and ground.
    • 5-volt reference circuit terminal 25
    • Signal A circuit terminal 39
    • Signal B circuit terminal 10
    • If less than the specified value, test the appropriate circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  5. Disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
  6. Test for less than 1 ohm between the following circuit terminals listed below.
    • 5-volt reference circuit terminal 25 and 1
    • Signal A circuit terminal 39 and 5
    • Signal B circuit terminal 10 and 6
    • If greater than the specified range, test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit test normal, replace the combination yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor.
  7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the steering wheel position sensor.
