Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Pontiac Torrent and 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the VCIM.
  2. Test for 15.5 volts or greater between the battery backup supply voltage circuit terminal 14 and ground.
    • If less than specified range, test the supply voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the backup battery.
  3. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the battery backup supply voltage circuit terminal 14 and the backup battery low reference circuit terminal 13
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the backup battery.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the VCIM.
