Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement

NOTE: Brake system does not use a brake switch, stoplight switch or brakelight switch. System uses a Brake Pedal Position Sensor to control these functions.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the left side instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  2. Remove the communication interface module, if equipped. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement .
1 Brake Pedal Position Sensor Bolt
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure: 
Do not reuse the brake pedal position sensor bolt. Discard the bolt.

Tighten:  2.5 N.m (22 lb in)
2 Brake Pedal Position Sensor Assembly

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor electrical connector.
  2. Discard the brake pedal position sensor. Do not reuse the sensor.
  3. After the installation is complete, calibrate the position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .
