Component Testing
IMS Switch
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the AT Inline 20-Way Connector.
- Connect the J44152 jumper harness to the transmission side of the 20-way connector.
- With the IMS switch in each of the following positions, test for less than 2.0 ohms of resistance between the signal circuit terminal 2 and the ground circuit terminal 4.
- Park
- Neutral
- If greater than the specified range, test both circuits for an open/high resistance. If a circuit fault is found, replace the internal transmission harness. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IMS switch.
- With the IMS switch in each of the following positions, test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 2 and the ground circuit terminal 4.
- Reverse
- D
- 3
- 2
- 1
- If less than the specified range, test both circuits for a short to ground or a short to each other. If a circuit fault is found, replace the internal transmission harness. If the circuit tests normal, replace the IMS switch.
Clutch Start Switch
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the clutch start switch.
- With the switch in the open position, test for infinite resistance between the B+ terminal A and the signal terminal B.
- If not the specified value, replace the clutch start switch.
- With the switch in the closed position, test for less than 2.0 ohms of resistance between the B+ terminal A and the signal terminal B.
- If greater than the specified range, replace the clutch start switch.
CRANK Relay
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the CRANK relay.
- Test for 60-180 ohms of resistance between terminals 85 and 86.
- If not within the specified range, replace the relay.
- Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:
- 30 and 86
- 30 and 87
- 30 and 85
- 85 and 87
- If not the specified value, replace the relay.
- Install a 20-amp fused jumper wire between relay terminal 85 and 12 volts. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal 86 and ground. Test for less than 2.0 ohms of resistance between terminals 30 and 87.
- If greater than specified range, replace the relay.
