Circuit/System Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Buick LaCrosse and 2007 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The cruise control switch is an input to the engine control module (ECM) / powertrain control module (PCM). The ECM (3.6L) / PCM (3.8L) monitors the cruise control set/coast and resume/accelerate switch signal circuit in order to detect when the driver has requested to perform a cruise control function. The ECM/PCM detects a specific voltage signal on the cruise control set/coast and resume/accelerate switch signal circuit when a switch is applied. The BCM monitors the cruise control cancel switch in order to detect when the drive has requested to perform a cruise control cancellation. The BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the ECM/PCM indicating the status of the cruise cancel switch.
