Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Buick LaCrosse and 2008 Buick Allure. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
- Disconnect the cruise control switch.
- Ignition ON, measure for 10 volts or greater at the cruise control supply voltage circuit terminal 1.
- If less than the specified value, test the cruise control supply voltage circuit for an open/high resistance or a short to ground.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the cruise control supply voltage circuit terminal 1 and the cruise control switch signal circuit terminal 5.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the cruise control switch signal circuit for an open/high resistance or a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM/PCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the ECM/PCM.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the cruise control supply voltage circuit terminal 1 and the cruise control switch signal circuit terminal 5 of the cruise control switch harness.
- If the test lamp illuminates, test the cruise control switch signal circuit for a short to ground.
- If the circuits test normal, test the cruise control switch. If the circuits and the component tests are normal, replace the ECM/PCM.
