Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Loosen the belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner clockwise.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Disconnect the wire clamp (3) from the wire clip.
- Remove the terminal cap and nut (1).
- Disconnect the engine wire.
- Disconnect the generator connector (2).
- Remove the two mounting bolts.
- Remove the generator (4).
CAUTION:
Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
CAUTION:
Failure to observe Step 1 may result in a serious personal injury. If a tool is shorted at the generator lead, the tool will become hot enough to cause a serious burn.
