  1. Position the negative battery cable (2) into the vehicle.
  2. NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  3. Connect the cable to the transaxle housing. Secure with the ground bolt (1).

Tighten:  Tighten the ground bolt to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  4. Connect the cable to the body. Secure with the ground bolt (3).

Tighten:  Tighten the body ground bolt to 14 N.m (124 lb in).

  5. Route the cable and secure it in the harness retainer.
  6. Install the battery tray.
  7. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement .
