Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the lower column shaft splines.
  2. Ensure the upper jacket shaft splines are clean and free of debris.
  3. Use the supplied grease to apply 2 grams (0.07 ounces) of grease to the column shaft splines.
  4. Ensure that the steering wheel alignment notch is in the 12 o'clock position.
  5. Carefully seat the jacket to the column housing.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Hand start all jacket attachment bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the jacket attachment bolts to 11 N.m (8 lb ft)

  7. Install the upper column attachment bolts.
  8. Install the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement .
  9. Install the multifunction levers. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal Switch Replacement .

  10. Snap the knee bolster into position. Install the knee bolster screws.
  11. Install the SIR coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement .
  12. Install the column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  13. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
