Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure the shift lever is in the PARK position.
  2. Install the park/lock cable.
  3. Snap the cable into the shifter control-housing base.
  4. Ensure that the ignition key is in the RUN position.
  5. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the ignition key is in the RUN position. Do not attempt to insert cable with the key in any other position.
  6. Install the cable into the inhibitor housing.
  7. Turn key to LOCK position.

  9. Install the cable on the shift control lever by sliding the cable over the park lever pin.

  11. Disengage the lock in the cable adjuster body by squeezing the release tabs and pulling away from the adjuster body. Cable should be freely within the adjuster body.

  13. Push the cable adjustment feature until all slack is removed from cable and no gap exists between cable end and adjustment feature.

  15. Depress cable lock.
  16. Inspect the functional operation of the park/lock cable. Refer to Park Lock Cable Adjustment .
  17. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  18. Install the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (RPOs L26/L32) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (RPO LS4) in Engine Electrical.
