Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (7.0L) in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the left exhaust manifold. Refer to Muffler Replacement - Left in Engine Exhaust.
  3. Remove the left catalytic convertor. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (Left) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (Right) in Engine Exhaust.
  4. Remove the mounting bolt for the knock sensor 1.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector of the knock sensor from the engine harness (3).
  6. Remove the knock sensor (2) from the engine block (4).
