Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 8 .
  2. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove the automatic transmission shift control, if equipped. Refer to Floor Shift Control Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E.
  4. Remove the park brake lever assembly. Refer to Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.
  5. Remove the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module nuts.
  6. Remove the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module wire harness connector.

  7. Remove the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module.
