Removal Procedure
- Remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement
in Engine Controls-3.4L.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls-3.4L.

- Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.

- Use a large flat-bladed tool in order to remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the cable lever.
- Use pliers in order to depress the cable retainers.
- Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the automatic transaxle range selector cable bracket.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

- If the vehicle is equipped with a console shift, perform the following steps:
- Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Aztek)
or Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Rendezvous)
in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Remove the transaxle shift cable from the floor shift control.

- If the vehicle is equipped with a column shift, perform the following steps:
- Remove the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
- Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the column control lever.
- Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the steering column bracket.

- Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable through the cowl.
