Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.

  4. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
  5. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  7. Use a large flat-bladed tool in order to remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the cable lever.
  8. Use pliers in order to depress the cable retainers.
  9. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the automatic transaxle range selector cable bracket.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  13. If the vehicle is equipped with a console shift, perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Aztek) or Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Rendezvous) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
    2. Remove the transaxle shift cable from the floor shift control.

  15. If the vehicle is equipped with a column shift, perform the following steps:
    1. Remove the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
    2. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the column control lever.
    3. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the steering column bracket.

  17. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable through the cowl.
