Disabling Procedure

IMPORTANT:
Refer to SIR Service Precautions .
- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
- Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
- Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the underhood fuse center.
- When disabling the right/passenger seat belt pretensioner perform step 8, if Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) needs disabling then use entire procedure.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the left/driver seat belt pretensioner connector (1) located under the driver seat.
- Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner-left connector from vehicle wiring harness connector (1).
- Remove the right rear sail panel. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
- Remove the CPA from the right/passenger roof rail module connector (2).
- Disconnect the right roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector (2) from the right roof rail module (3).
- Remove the right/passenger sound insulator from the instrument panel (I/P) (3). Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Remove the CPA from the I/P module yellow connector (1).
- Disconnect the I/P module yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
- Remove the left/driver sound insulator from the instrument panel (I/P) (2). Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Remove the CPA from the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1).
- Disconnect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (3).
- Remove the CPA from the left/driver seat belt pretensioner connector (1) located under the driver seat.
- Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner-left connector from vehicle wiring harness connector (1).
- Remove the left rear sail panel. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
- Remove the CPA from the left/driver roof rail module connector (2).
- Disconnect the left roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector (2) from the left roof rail module (3).
IMPORTANT:
With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
