Disabling Procedure

IMPORTANT:
Refer to SIR Service Precautions .
- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
- Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
- Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the underhood fuse center.
- Remove the radiator upper air baffle and deflector and locate the front end sensor also known as electronic front sensor (EFS).
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (2) from the EFS connector (3).
- Remove the EFS connector (3) from the EFS (1).
IMPORTANT:
With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
