Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  2. Reposition the accessory wiring junction block.
  3. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  4. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) or Drive Belt Replacement (L32) in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  5. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
  6. Remove the water pump pulley.
  7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts and reposition. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (3.8L V-6) in Power Steering System.
  8. Remove the water pump bolts.

  10. Remove the water pump.
  11. Remove the water pump gasket.
  12. Clean and inspect the water pump gasket mating surfaces.
