Fuel Tank Draining Procedure
CAUTION:
Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
- Loosen the fuel filler cap.
- Remove the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (FWD) or Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (AWD) .
- Use a hand operated pump device in order to drain the fuel through the fuel sender assembly opening on the fuel tank.
- Install the fuel sender assembly to the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (FWD) or Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement (AWD) .
- Tighten the fuel filler cap.
IMPORTANT:
If you are removing the fuel tank do not connect the fuel or vapor lines. Do not connect the electrical connectors or install the access panel.
