Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
  2. IMPORTANT: Make sure the turn signal switch is in the neutral position or turn signal switch pin may be damaged.
  3. Place the turn signal switch in the neutral position.
  4. Install the steering wheel position sensor to the steering wheel module coil.
  5. IMPORTANT: When installing a new steering wheel module coil, remove the lock pin prior to installing the handle.

  6. Install the steering wheel module coil (1) and engage all 3 retaining claws (2).
  7. Center the steering wheel module coil, if necessary. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Centering in Steering Wheel and Column.
  8. Connect the steering wheel position sensor electrical connector.

  10. Connect the steering wheel module coil electrical connector.

  12. Install the steering column lower trim cover (6). Secure with 3 screws.
  13. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .
