Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (CB Series) .
  2. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement (3.8L V-6) .
  3. Position the power steering pump to the engine.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  5. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement (L26 and L32) .
  8. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .

  10. Install the harness connector (1) to the power steering pump (4).
  11. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) or Drive Belt Replacement (L32) in Engine Mechanical-3.8L.
  12. Fill the power steering system with fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
  14. Operate the power steering system and inspect for power steering system leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
