Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2004 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the engine cooling fan motor to the fan shroud.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the engine cooling fan motor bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  5. Install the engine cooling fan blade.
  6. Install the engine cooling fan blade nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  8. Install the engine cooling fan heat shield.
  9. IMPORTANT: Ensure the lower edge of the fan shroud engages the clip at the bottom of the radiator.
  10. Install the cooling fan shroud.
  11. Install the cooling fan shroud bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  13. Install the cooling fans electrical harness to the fan shroud clips.
  14. Connect the engine cooling fan motors electrical connector.
  15. Install the bolt that connects the fan shroud to the condenser hold down bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  17. Install the radiator upper support brackets and bolts that connect to the fan shroud.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  19. Install the transmission oil cooler lines to the retainer clip at the bottom of the cooling fan shroud.
  20. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-3.8L or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.
  21. Install the right and left engine mount struts. Refer to the following procedures:
  22. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  23. Inspect for proper operation.
