Air Cleaner Assembly: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Cadillac Seville and 2003 Cadillac DeVille. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  1. Align the lower housing to the front locating pin. Gently push downward to secure the lower housing to the rear locating pins. Install the PCM and connector assembly to the lower housing. If replacing the upper housing cover, transfer the MAF/IAT sensor, intake air ducting, and the clamps to the replacement cover.
  2. Tighten the clamps to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the upper housing cover and air intake duct assembly to the throttle body. Tighten the clamp to specification. Install the upper housing cover to the lower housing. Tighten the housing cover screws to specification.

NOTE: An improperly installed air cleaner or a distorted or missing air cleaner intake duct may cause a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) to set. Ensure that the air cleaner assembly and intake air duct is installed correctly and that there are no kinks or folds in the intake air duct. Debris in the air cleaner assembly or MAF sensor inlet screen, that may distort air flow can set a DTC.
  1. Install the air cleaner assembly into the vehicle and secure the air cleaner assembly with the 3 attaching screws. Install the upper filler panel to the vehicle. Install the push in retainers in order to secure the upper filler panel to the vehicle. Install the PCM.
  2. Install the air cleaner intake duct and resonator. Reconnect the MAF/IAT sensor connector. Install the PCM cover. Install the air cleaner intake duct to the throttle body. Tighten the clamp assembly to specification See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
