Installation Procedure

  1. Install the gasket and the water pump.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the water pump bolts.

    Tighten: 

    • Tighten the long water pump bolts to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).
    • Tighten the short water pump bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  5. Install the water pump pulley.
  6. Install the water pump pulley bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 13 N.m (115 lb in).

  7. Install the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (3.8L V-6) in Power Steering System.
  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (L26) or Drive Belt Replacement (L32) in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  9. Install the accessory wiring junction block.
  10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
