Disabling Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2004 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Service Precautions .
  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  4. Remove the IP fuse block cover.
    IMPORTANT: With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
  5. Remove the SIR Fuse.

  7. Remove the radiator upper air baffle and deflector.
  8. Remove the orange connector position assurance (CPA) (2) from the yellow sensor harness connector (3).
  9. Disconnect the sensor harness connector from the sensor (1).
