Prelubing Procedure

    IMPORTANT: A constant/continuous flow of clean engine oil is required in order to properly prime the engine. Be sure to use an approved engine oil as specified in the owners manual.
  1. Remove the engine oil filter, fill with clean engine oil.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the oil filter.

    Tighten:  Tighten the oil filter to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  4. Locate the oil pressure sensor on left side of engine and remove.
  5. Install the 1/4 inch adapter P/N 509373.

  7. Install the flexible hose to the adapter and open the valve.
  8. Pump the handle on J 45299  to flow a minimum of 1-2 quarts of engine oil. See Special Tools and Equipment . Observe the flow of engine oil through the flexible hose and into the engine assembly.
  9. Close the valve and remove the flexible hose and adapter from the engine.
  10. Install the oil pressure sensor.

    Tighten:  Tighten the oil pressure sensor to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  11. Top off the engine oil to the proper level.
