Installation Procedure
NOTE:
When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.
- Apply fluid to the spring.
- Install the spring to the pump.
- Apply fluid to the flow control valve.
- Install the flow control valve to the pump.
- Apply fluid to the gasket.
- Install the gasket to the union.NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
- Install the union to the pump.
- Tighten
- Tighten the union to 69 N.m (50.9 lb ft).
NOTE: Refer to INSTALLING HOSES WITHOUT TWISTS OR BENDS NOTICE . - Install the outlet pipe fitting (1) to the pump.
- Tighten
- Tighten the fitting to 41 N.m (30.2 lb ft).
- Install the outlet pipe clamp bolt (2).
- Tighten
- Tighten the bolt to 7.8 N.m (69.04 Ib. in).
- Install the right front tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the reservoir. Refer to CHECKING AND ADDING POWER STEERING FLUID .
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Repair as necessary.
- Install the right front engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHT
in Body Front End.NOTE: Refer to AIR IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOTICE .
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to BLEEDING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM .
