Installation Procedure

NOTE: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.
  1. Apply fluid to the spring.
  2. Install the spring to the pump.
  3. Apply fluid to the flow control valve.
  4. Install the flow control valve to the pump.
  5. Apply fluid to the gasket.
  6. Install the gasket to the union.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  7. Install the union to the pump.
    1. Tighten 
    2. Tighten the union to 69 N.m (50.9 lb ft).
  8. Install the outlet pipe fitting (1) to the pump.
    1. Tighten 
    2. Tighten the fitting to 41 N.m (30.2 lb ft).
  9. Install the outlet pipe clamp bolt (2).
    1. Tighten 
    2. Tighten the bolt to 7.8 N.m (69.04 Ib. in).

  10. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Fill the reservoir. Refer to CHECKING AND ADDING POWER STEERING FLUID  .
  13. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Repair as necessary.
  14. Install the right front engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHT in Body Front End.
  15. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to BLEEDING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM  .
