Removal & Installation: Notes

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column components. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. For 2002, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. For 2002, see COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
NOTE: When Passlock(tm) lock cylinder, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) are replaced, vehicle will enter TAMPER MODE. Vehicle may start and stall for 10 minutes. If this occurs, vehicle must complete a LONG TAMPER MODE cycle to allow IPC and PCM to complete a learn cycle. SECURITY indicator light should flash for 10 minutes. Ignition switch MUST remain in RUN position until SECURITY indicator light stops flashing, or cycle will have to be repeated. See PASSLOCK(tm) LEARN PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING. Clear all DTCs.
