Disabling System

WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Read and follow service precautions. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
NOTE: When SIR fuse is removed and ignition is on, AIR BAG warning light will be on. This does not indicate a system malfunction.
  1. Turn steering wheel to place vehicle wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition off and remove key.
  2. Remove SIR fuse from rear junction block, located under rear seat. Remove driver-side sound insulator panel. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and disconnect driver-side air bag module Yellow connector, located near base of steering column. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove passenger-side sound insulator panel. Remove CPA clip and disconnect passenger-side air bag module Yellow connector. See Fig 2.
  4. Remove CPA clip and disconnect driver side impact air bag module Yellow connector. Remove CPA clip and disconnect passenger side impact air bag module Yellow connector. See Fig 3.
