WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Savana Special, 2002 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2002 GMC Savana, and 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
When adding coolant, use DEX-COOL coolant. If silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner-at 50 000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.
- Install the surge tank to the cowl tabs.CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the surge tank retaining bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 in lbs).
- Connect the coolant level sensor electrical connector.
- Install the outlet hose to the bottom of the surge tank.
- Install the inlet hose to the top of the radiator and to the surge tank.
- Install the overflow hose to the top of the surge tank.
- Fill the surge tank with coolant to the proper level. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
