Disabling System

WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Air bag deployment could cause personal injury. Read and follow service precautions. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
NOTE: When AIR BAG fuse is removed and ignition is on, AIR BAG warning light will be on. This does not indicate a system malfunction.
  1. Turn steering wheel to place front wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition off and remove key. Remove right and left instrument panel end covers.
  2. Remove AIR BAG fuse from driver-side instrument panel wiring harness junction block. See Fig 1. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from driver-side air bag module Yellow 2-pin connector and disconnect connector. Remove CPA clip from passenger-side air bag module Yellow 2-pin connector and disconnect connector. See Fig 2.
