Entering Self-Diagnostics Mode

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Ensure hood, trunk and all doors are closed. Turn instrument panel dimmer switch to OFF position.
  2. Remove MALL PGM fuse (10-amp) from instrument panel fuse block, located behind right side of Instrument Panel (IP), in glove box. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. BCM will flash the seat belt indicator, and chime 1, 2 or 3 times to identify type of BCM installed in vehicle. If BCM identifies it's type number, go to next step. If BCM does not identify it's type number, perform CANNOT ENTER BCM DIAGNOSTICS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - GRAND PRIX article.
  3. Turn ignition switch from ACC to OFF position, then back to ACC position in less than one second. When BCM enters diagnostic mode, seat belt indicator will flash and chime will sound to indicate any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If no DTCs exist, seat belt indicator will not flash and chime will not sound. If more than one DTC exists, codes will be flashed in sequence, with a 2-second pause between codes. DTCs will repeat 3 times.
  4. Record any existing DTCs, then perform appropriate test procedure. After BCM DTC has been repaired, erase DTC. To clear BCM DTCs, press and hold either front door lock switch to UNLOCK position for 4 seconds.
  5. After DTCs have been displayed, BCM will enter input/output test. See INPUT/OUTPUT DIAGNOSTICS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - GRAND PRIX article. To exit diagnostic mode, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reinstall MALL PGM fuse, then turn ignition switch to RUN position.
