Transmitter Programming

NOTE: Following procedure must be performed when replacing Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) or either transmitter. All transmitters (up to 4) must be programmed in the same programming session. All previously programmed transmitters will be erased when system is placed in programming mode.
  1. Remove ignition key from ignition lock cylinder. Close all doors.
  2. Remove MALL PGM fuse (10-amp) from instrument panel fuse box, located behind right side of Instrument Panel (IP), in glove box.
  3. Insert ignition key and turn ignition switch to ACC position. Body Control Module (BCM) will flash the seat belt indicator, and chime 1, 2 or 3 times to identify type of BCM installed in vehicle.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then back to ACC position within one second. BCM may begin to chime and flash Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If any DTCs exist, go to BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
  5. Open and close any vehicle door. BCM will chime to verify programming mode has been entered.
  6. Press and hold both LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on RKE transmitter to be programmed for 14 seconds. After 7 seconds, BCM will chime once to confirm synchronization has been completed. After 14 seconds, BCM will chime a second time to confirm programming has been completed.
  7. Repeat step  6 for remaining RKE transmitters. Remove ignition key from ignition lock cylinder.
  8. Install MALL PGM fuse. Enable THEFTLOCK(R) (if equipped). See UNLOCKING RADIO ANTI-THEFT FEATURE (THEFTLOCK(R)) AFTER POWER LOSS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - GRAND PRIX article. Verify all programmed RKE transmitters operate system properly.
