Compressor Sealing Washers: Removal

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the air baffle bolts. See Figure . Remove the air baffle. Remove the suction hose to compressor nut. Disconnect the suction hose from the compressor. See Figure .
    3. NOTE: Cap or tape the open A/C hoses immediately to prevent system contamination.
  3. Cap or tape off the compressor suction port. Remove the discharge hose to compressor nut. Disconnect the discharge hose from the compressor. Cap or tape off the compressor discharge port.
  4. Remove and discard the sealing washers. Cap or tape off the discharge hose. Cap or tape off the suction hose.
