Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ensure that the caliper bolt bushings (4) and the caliper bolt boots (3) are properly installed.
- Install the brake caliper (1) to the brake caliper bracket (2).
- lubricate the brake caliper bolt shaft. Do not lubricate the threads.
- lubricate the brake caliper bolt boots (4) in the brake caliper bracket (3).
- Install the brake caliper bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the brake caliper bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
- Use a flat-bladed tool in order to install the brake caliper bracket boot over the shoulder of the brake caliper bolt.
- Remove the plugs in the brake hose end.
- Assemble the brake hose bolt (1) and the NEW copper brake hose gaskets (3) to the brake hose (2).
- Install the brake hose bolt to the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Hose Replacement - Rear (Disc Brake) or Brake Hose Replacement - Rear (Drum Brake) in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Remove the nuts securing the rotor to the hub.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the master cylinder to the proper level. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Apply approximately 778 N.m (175 lb ft) of force to the brake pedal for ten seconds.
- Inspect the brake caliper and hydraulic brake system for brake fluid leaks.

IMPORTANT:
Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets (3).
