Removal Procedure

- Remove the bolt retaining the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank.
- Move the coolant recovery reservoir or the surge tank aside.WARNING: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
- Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery.
- If equipped with the 6.5L engine, disconnect the positive lead to the junction block.
- Disconnect the positive lead to the starter solenoid.
- Disconnect the positive lead to the generator.
- Remove the cable from the vehicle. Note the location of the retaining clips.
