Removal Procedure

Remove the bolt retaining the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank.
Move the coolant recovery reservoir or the surge tank aside.
WARNING: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .

Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery.
If equipped with the 6.5L engine, disconnect the positive lead to the junction block.

Disconnect the positive lead to the starter solenoid.

Disconnect the positive lead to the generator.
Remove the cable from the vehicle. Note the location of the retaining clips.
