Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Savana Special, 2002 GMC Savana Camper Special, 2002 GMC Savana, and 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install new gaskets to the muffler flange and the catalytic converter pipe flange.
  2. Install the exhaust pipe.
CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fastener requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  3. Install the nuts for the muffler to the exhaust pipe.

  5. Verify the exhaust system for proper clearance and the alignment of all components.
