Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Aztek and 2003 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.
CAUTION: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.

Important:  If abnormal noise or vibration is felt from the engine compartment, inspect and clean any foreign material from the cooling fan blades.

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Remove the cooling fans with the cooling fan shroud. Refer to COOLING FAN REPLACEMENT - ELECTRIC  .

    Important:  Turn the cooling fan nut clockwise to loosen.

  3. Remove the cooling fan nut.
  4. Remove the cooling fan.
