Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Aztek and 2002 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the backup lamp sockets and harness to the lift gate applique.
  2. Install the lift gate applique lamp sockets to the lift gate applique.
  3. Install the license plate lamp sockets to the lift gate applique.

  4. Connect the lift gate applique electrical connector.
  5. Install the lift gate applique to the lift gate.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  6. Install the lift gate applique nuts.
  7. Tighten 

    Tighten the lift gate applique nuts to 10 N.m 89 lb in.

  8. Install the wing nuts to the studs on the lift gate applique.
  9. Hand tighten the wing nuts.
  10. Install the lift gate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous) .
