Steering Column: Notes

CAUTION: Wheels of vehicle must be straight ahead and steering column in LOCK position before disconnecting steering column or intermediate shaft from steering gear. Failure to do so will cause SIR coil assembly to become uncentered, which may cause damage to the coil assembly.

NOTE: Use illustration for exploded view of steering column. See Figure . Before servicing steering column, place shift lever in Park, turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key.

NOTE: If inflatable restraint module is deployed, inspect SIR coil. Replace SIR coil if SIR coil exhibits any signs of damage caused by excessive heat.
